Spring Valley Location:
2782-E Sweetwater Springs Blvd., Spring Valley, CA 91977
At the corner of Sweetwater Springs and Austin Drive in the Family Foods Shopping Center.
We have one location: Spring Valley, CA.
We are the same Martial Arts Academy that was once located at the corner of Lake Murray Blvd. and Navajo Road near Grossmont College (before 1999), and at one time we held classes in El Cajon. We have long since moved to our present location and consolidated all our classes. Our recent expansion allows us to teach many more students more effectively than at previous locations - and we are certainly far more effective than when we had sattelite classes. Many, many years ago we had classes at the San Carlos and Allied Gardens recreation centers. A small handful of people remember those days. Renshi Wendy started at the Allied Garden's Recreation Center, as did Sensei Scott Delmas.
PLANS FOR A SECOND LOCATION
We do have plans to open a second school. Our schedule is event driven - which simply means we will work to make sure instructors can earn a living at this school before adding a second location. The plan for 2006-2007 is to focus our time and attention on building not only the Spring Valley classes, but also working on developing a more instructor-friendly teaching system. The exercise kata, recorded lecture topics, and more systematic children programs are all part of that. We are also working to streamline the office. In mid-2007, we hope to start actively building a multi-school administration system so we can effectively run two schools with one central office. With hard work, some luck, and God's blessing, we will be in position to open a second school sometime in 2008.
Most of these tasks fall to Soke-Kyoshi and Renshi - as appropriate to their role as indicated by their titles. Among their greatest challenge is preparing the next generation of Sensei. To be the Head Instructor of a school, a Sensei must know Guardian Karate, Guardian Jujitsu, Guardian Kobujitsu, Junior Guardian Karate, and Little Guardian Karate. Right now, we only have one instructor who is proficient in all three. Hopefully, the new schedule will make is easier for leaders to attend the children's classes and learn those systems and methods of teaching so we can mentor more leaders that could lead new schools.
Please be praying for Soke-Kyoshi and Renshi in their responsibilities, and for the next generation of Sensei. We believe the life lessons and lifestyle martial arts taught through the Guardian Academy can make a real difference in the lives of many - and assuming we are correct - it also means that it is a matter of good stewardship to make sure that the valuable lessons we teach should be made available to more people.
