The version available starting January 2004 contains the lectures and a general outline of the two year training cycle. This is the art that is most likely to be recodified. Soke will start teaching it to get a feel for how quickly students can learn and apply the information taught in the class.
Guardian Jujitsu is not a gentle art in the sense that it cannot be dangerous, but in the sense that it does not have to be dangerous. When punching or kicking, you can only stop a violent person by harming them. When using a weapon, the same is usually true. Jujitsu allows a martial artist to immobilize or subdue a violent person without seriously hurting them.
The key weakness in Jujitsu is that it has limited effectiveness against more than one opponent. When faced with more than one person, Karate would be the preferred technique. Generally, in modern society, most people do not go about armed, but when facing weapons or particularly dangerous situations, weapon skills may be useful. Weapon skills the most useful when you disarm an attacker and then have an opportunity to use the newly captured weapon against them. Jujitsu is the most effective of the three basic Guardian Martial Arts for defeating someone without causing harm.
However, a Guardian Jujitsu fighter can still choose to break a criminal's bones, and Jujitsu has the distinction of being potentially lethal by accident. For that reason, Guardian Jujitsu, emphasizes safe training. It does little good to learn new skills if you get hurt and cannot even practice them. Worse, if you are injured in training, what might happen if you are attacked while in your recovery period? Many jujitsu old-school and many modern jiu-jitsu classes are brutal, sometimes painful, and from time to time people really get hurt.
In Guardian Jujitsu, so long as everyone does as they should, no one should get hurt.
